About Me

A note on the title of the blog, Living LAwfully: it's meant to be a bit of a joke, like "Living Awfully," yet also remaining "Living Lawfully." I say awfully because as you may be aware, sometimes studying the law can just be quite a tough experience. I use my humor lightly, though, as of course I enjoy it a lot!

My name is Vanessa. I am an undergraduate political science and art double major at Hunter College. I started this blog on December 20, 2016, one day before the last day of my first semester at college. I hope to continue it for a very long time.

My success with blogging has been minimal: I tried to start a review blog and a book review blog in high school, then started a poetry blog. I was not too committed to any of them. However, I started writing articles about chess in 2016 (I play competitively and keep up to date with chess news). I regularly contribute to my friend's blog called Chess^Summit and occasionally write articles for sites such as ChessKid.com and US Chess Online. I wish to expand my journalism ventures a bit by starting this blog as well as an art blog and a writing blog.

As for my relationship to law, I am just getting started! I took a criminal justice class in high school and loved it, but thought I was going to be a writer for life and perhaps work at a publishing company. I suppose plans change because once I went to college, I found a new passion in my first law class called The American Legal System. I enrolled and was accepted into the Moot Court winter class, which is a competitive class that accepts students on a case by case basis, capped at 12 students. In the spring of my freshman year, I will take a class on The Bill of Rights (I am color coding blue as information I will update in the future).

I hope to develop my legal knowledge further in the next few years and likely forever!
